Agents will advise you that a home shouldn't be on the market for more than three weeks in a competitive seller's market. Homes may lie on the market for a month or two in a buyer's market before an offer is accepted. Again, everything depends on variables like inventories, the state of the economy, the zip code, the time of year, whether the pricing was too high, etc.
