Pipelines are susceptible to different kinds of damage from internal and external corrosion, cracking, manufacturing flaws and other third party damage. Pipeline inspection tools depend on the type of pipe and the level of details to budget for during the inspection.
Types of Underground Sewer Pipe Inspection for Commercial Establishments
Sewer Line Video Inspection – One technique for commercial underground sewer pipe inspection is to run a small video camera through the entire length of the sewer line until it connects with the municipal system.
CUES inspection cameras can be configured for any of the following when used to examine damaged sewer lines:
• Automatic and remote (manual) focus
• Manual zoom up to 40x (optical and digital)
• Iris control
• Directional lighting capabilities for pipes anywhere from 6" to 48" in diameter
Excavation and Direct Inspection – In some instances, excavation becomes necessary if the camera's results are inconclusive and the problem continues, even after thorough root cutting in the line. Excavation also may be required if there is evidence that the pipe is leaking.
