Lionfish are not aggressive towards humans and we’ve never documented a story in which a lionfish has offensively attacked anyone. Most often divers are stung by lionfish while hunting and a thrashing lionfish either gets off of the spear tip and blindly swims into the hunter while it’s trying to escape.
