How to spot a Fake Pandora Jewelry?

Another thing to know before buying Pandora items is that the line's success has actually worked against it in some instances. It's given rise to a plethora of fakes, many of which can be difficult to tell from the real thing unless you know what to look for. One of the most important considerations is to make sure that you see ALE stamped on all Pandora pieces. This is the ‘maker's mark' and it proves that you're buying something genuine, rather than a knockoff.

The ALE marking

The first and most notable marking is the three letter marking “ALE”. This marking comes from Per Enevoldsen, the original founder of the Pandora jewelry company, and are the initials of his father Algot Enevoldsen. All Pandora charms and and accessories will have this ALE hallmark engraved on the piece, usually close to where the sterling silver or gold mark is. If the piece does not have this mark, then for sure it is not a genuine Pandora piece.

Check the quality mark to establish the purity of the metal

The term quality mark is the standard term in the US and the equivalent of hallmark in the UK and fineness mark in Denmark. At Pandora, we stamp our jewellery with quality marks to indicate the metal's purity and to guarantee that the metal is genuine.

Buyer Beware When Using Auction Sites

Purchasing Pandora off of auction sites like eBay is a tricky proposition at best. Many retailers advertise on these sites and they can be a good source for finding discontinued and/or second-hand items. However, we know of no active, authorized Pandora retailers that sell Pandora product through auction sites.
